  • An every day crazy diy woman in a sea of Insta ready diy women.
I mean how are y'all filming, documenting, diy-ing, AND still look magazine ready.
Don't mind me doing the same work in hair that would make hagrid happy. Sweatpants that have paint and caulk on them. And an old pair of uggs from high school almost 20 years ago.
Constantly have to remind myself that it doesn't matter what we look like doing it, it just matter how happy we are while we get it done.
I love working on our old houses we moved and will always love getting out there and learning to get things done.
Here's to the girls with cold afternoon coffee they don't know where they sat down, crazy hair, no makeup, and a can do attitude.

  • It's come to the point that I need to be honest
We are still working on installing our pine siding, but there is this itty bitty little situation I haven't been honest with y'all about.
I don't do heights. It's bad. Like being unaware and stepping on a slight crack, I will have a 1/4 inch heart attack.
Soooooo that means we have siding on three exterior walls, and the siding stops two thirds the way up the wall. 🤣🤣🤦
Y'all I can't even at this point.
We had a visit from the county this week to take measurements for taxes, yeah, not!
And as we walked the gentlemen around the house one of them commented on the siding and asked why we stopped where we did on each wall and then move on to another.
I swear if a person could genuinely die laughing. My husband would have met Jesus in that moment.
Quickly trying to cover for us, I explained that I don't like getting on ladders that are bigger than 16 ft.
Cue harder laughing from my schmuckieukems as he chokes out that he puts me on the 8 ft ladder and even then I refuse to go above the fourth step.
Which is why I am currently in the house working on some furniture.
Because evidently I am delusional and siding will not be happening while I'm by myself and the hubs is at work.
Charlie Brown- photo bombing this cute chest of drawers has no problem with heights.
He has been known to try and jump in the saddle with me when we go horseback riding. As a puppy he would climb the beams to follow me into the houses.
Follow us at @pinkhillpine to keep up to date with our shenanigans and of course to see who finishes the top third of our siding!
  • We found and moved our 1922 Craftsman, our first love and the house that started our journey in house moving.
Imagine our excitement restoring the walls and ceilings covered in original tongue and groove beadboard that perfectly paired with the original heart pine tongue and groove floors.
Just one teeny tiny hitch in our plan.
The second home we were given for free.
Had nothing. No charm. No character. No personality.
Over the past two years we have spent many hours, weeks, and energy removing all the beadboard, de-nailing and stacking. Saving each and every piece.
We also spent a lot of time over the last two years sourcing materials from local houses that couldn't be saved.
So far we have windows from @cityofwinstonsalem , we have doors from Wilson, NC, our Wilma- my restored 1940's range came from @explorewilmingtonnc
Anddddddd drum roll pleaseeeeee.
The newest addition to our restoration.
Multiple loads of tongue and groove heart pine floors from Newton Grove, NC.
Shewwww this trip was a doozy. The wood was haphazardly tossed into the loft of a barn, which meant we had to throw each board down and then collect and stack it onto our trailer.
Today we go pick up the last of it.
And this morning before we go, I spent some time thanking God for this blessing and opportunity. Because restoring an old house takes a lot of faith.
But for me, I also think it takes a lot of God. And I for one am thankful that he led me to people that saved old house parts so that I can use them!!!
  • Playing around with a few new pieces.
Disclaimer that this is NOT an antique, it's a reproduction.
Can you guess what I have planned for this?!

  • For the love of old wood floors 🤣

  • Broke and able bodied 🤣
I laughed so hard at this. Like a big old belly laugh, actually had to listen a few times through.
But just as hard as I laughed and listened, I took the words to heart.
Financing our renovation as we go has come with its own challenges. Those challenges have pushed us out of our comfort zone, and forced us to make choices.
How to be able to afford projects that we TELL ourselves we can't do. At price tags we KNOW we can't afford.
Knowing we can't afford to do something is just a part of life, but telling myself I can't learn to do something has never sat right with me.
I preach to my children that they can do anything as long as they try.
And I whole heartedly believe it.
If we stop telling ourselves we can't do things, simply because we have not learned to do them. Think of how endless the possibilities could be.
Since moving the two old houses to our farm, we ask ourselves before every new project that we can't afford, can we learn to do it ourselves?
More often than not, the answer has been yes we can!
Is there something you couldn't afford but taught yourself to do instead? Tell us about it in the comments!

  • Old house. New location. Nothing is impossible.
Please help us get the word out about our little moving renovation, we appreciate it more than you know!

  • Going to be vulnerable and honest for a moment.
I absolutely love working on my old house-both of them. And I adore sharing with others our journey in moving 100 year old homes.
But man, learning so many different social media platforms, the hours I spend trying to get the word out about what we are doing.
It's hard. Like harder than moving an old house 🤣
We are slowly but surely doing that. Figuring out together not only how to restore our home but also how to document the process in a way that others want to see.
Instagram hasn't been easy for me.
Sometimes I feel like it's not the platform for us. But I keep pushing and keep trying to one up myself, because for me, being better than who I was yesterday is a huge motivation.
With all that said, I want to share a personal triumph with y'all. Recently we hit 3,000 followers on Facebook.
If you can't find me for the rest of the day. Me and my sander will be happy dancing through the house. Because yesterday I was hard on myself-told myself I wasn't good enough.
And today we aren't having any of that negativity.
So if you are going through some self doubts, just remember you aren't alone! I'm over here rooting for you!

  • Did you make any questionable decisions during the Apocalypse?
My husband would certainly tell you that I did. 🤣😂
Meet my Apocalypse house.

  • I am so stinking proud of these babies!
Don't have any idea how long it took them to dry in the house when it was built, but it's for sure taking the two of us longer than we expected.
Building these gets us one project closer!
If you saw my hint earlier this week and guessed gable end vents you were correct!
We built two for the gable ends of the big Craftsman house and two for the gable ends of the Apocalypse house!
